Web analytics is so much fun!
The first time I heard the term web analytics, I thought it
would be a complex task that would drive me crazy. After I started learning
more about it, I realized that I was right. But when you get over the initial
trepidation of using it, it offers you a world of possibilities.
Have you ever seen advertisements on other websites
featuring the exact same products that you checked out on Amazon or eBay? And
did you wonder how the other website knew that you were checking out a bottle green peplum dress? Well, the answer would be web analytics.
Information is wealth, and web analytics with its cool tools
helps you dissect the various facets of your website while giving you accurate
results. It fosters two-way symmetrical communication (excuse me for the PR
jargon, but I just couldn’t resist) by making organizations aware of what their
audience like and dislike.
Here are some of the things that it does:
- · Monitors a customer’s behavior
- · Suggests products that they are likely to buy
- · Compares data from week to week
- · Checks the performance of each page of the site
- · Analyzes which social media channel is the most effective
- · Shows key words that are the drivers to the site
Popular tools for web analytics are:
Google Analytics | Unbounce | Adobe CQ | Radian6 |
Google AdWords | HootSuite | Shoutlet | Conductor | Hubspot
Google AdWords | HootSuite | Shoutlet | Conductor | Hubspot
I am sure there must be many other tasks and many other
tools that I have not mentioned. But this is a good place to start. And once
you get yourself familiarized with this, you would be moving on to greener
pastures.
To sum it up, web analytics is the future. And the more you
delve into it, the more you learn about things you never knew you could do with
data.
I have been doing my own little research on this particular subject. I think facebook is the best place to start your analysis. Apart from their exquisitely designed insights, which is a great place to start, what i found was that their were tools out their were very powerful. One of them being simplymeasure.com
